A Garden of Curiosities

Style

Contemporary

Location

Warsash, Hampshire

Project Type

Design and Project facilitation

A garden landscape should reflect you – your tastes, your dreams, your journey - and – the landscape it lives in. This one certainly does that.
This garden draw you in and immediately distracts you from the world outside.

The design balances a long list of favourites places, plants and things, whilst solving on-site issues of privacy, dodgy views, a shallow plot and poor soils.

Hard paving has been used minimally, exploding outward from a central dining area, and broken up with pockets of creeping Thyme and Erigeron daisies.
Bee posts, sculpted in sinuous curves, wind through borders, dividing the garden to create pockets of seating for every time of day,

Luxuriously deep borders are home to not only a wide variety of plants, but also treasured artefacts collected over the years.
Carefully placed trees and shrubs will fill-out to disguise neighbouring buildings and set the tone for the garden zones – transitioning from woodland edge themed planting on the shadier side, to a drier Mediterranean feel in the sun.

You’ll have to imagine the overflowing borders for now, and we’ll look forward to returning in a few months as the flowers start to show their faces.

For now – enjoy the sculpture that is this garden.
